Another rare studio tape from the days of Bob Gurman and Alan Bershaw trading in the 1970s. Nice quality work tapes from Mickey's barn studio in 1976. Lesh, Hart and Jim McPherson developing the non-Garcia/Hunter parts of the Terrapin Station suite. Some of these had a jazzier feel than the album versions ended up, but whats really interesting is that McPherson is singing lyrics we never knew existed. I think this is uncirculated but if more or better quality exists please share it. I like these other parts and wish the band had explored them more on stage. -Rob

My guess on the lyrics is that since the ones Jim is singing are kind of tentative, they are likely just stand-in practice vocals since hunter was working on them or going to be working on them

Subject: Another layer to the onion...

This is one of those gems where to sound quality is low, but the content is priceless. This is an interesting look into the makings of Terrapin. For lack of a better term there is a Gypsy feel to Transit and Siding that is much subdued in the final studio and live public recordings. Another layer to the onion...peeling away the layers reveal yet more nuance to that which is Grateful Dead.
I agree this ought to be tagged Grateful Dead. It is not Phil Lesh and Friends, which to me is an incarnation way past 1976. It's Phil, Mickey and Jim working on parts as members of the GD, not Phil with a side project.

Subject: Interesting

Sound quality is pretty good.
Music itself is interesting to hear once. More cohesive than some outtakes I've heard.
Shouldn't this be tagged GD since it's really GD? No one will look for it here tagged thusly.
